According to Verdict Food Service, syndicated on Yahoo Finance, Swiggy launched three programmes for restaurant partners: kitchen equipment buying from vetted suppliers, subsidised hygiene audits by FSSAI-accredited agencies under Swiggy Seal, and subsidised professional photoshoots. All run through the Swiggy Owner app, and Swiggy says its studies show good visuals can raise dish orders up to five times.
Three programmes, one app
Verdict Food Service reported, in a piece carried by Yahoo Finance, that Swiggy had introduced three programmes for its restaurant partners. Each targets a different area, namely buying equipment, hygiene, and how dishes look on the menu, and all three are reached through the Swiggy Owner app.
Buying kitchen equipment through the Owner app
The first programme is meant for small and mid-sized restaurants. Through the Owner app, they can connect with suppliers Swiggy has vetted and buy the kitchen equipment they need at competitive prices. It is designed for restaurants that lack their own supplier contacts or the buying power to negotiate good prices alone.
Hygiene audits under Swiggy Seal
The second programme builds on Swiggy Seal, the hygiene and food-quality initiative Swiggy had already extended to 650 Indian cities in October 2024. It adds subsidised audits carried out by FSSAI-accredited agencies, and the audits return structured feedback on sanitation and on the upkeep of the premises.
Alongside the audits come educational webinars and an account manager assigned to the restaurant, so that the findings lead to changes in the kitchen rather than sitting in a report.
Subsidised photoshoots, and Swiggy's five-times claim
The third programme offers subsidised professional photoshoots, again booked through the Owner app. Swiggy's case for it rests on its own research: according to the report, the company's studies show that high-quality images from these shoots could lift orders for a dish by as much as five times. That is Swiggy's figure, not an independent one.
Deepak Maloo, who heads customer experience and restaurant experience at Swiggy Food, said all three programmes were meant to tackle everyday problems restaurants face, from lifting sales with better images and running kitchens more efficiently to keeping hygiene standards high. The report said the pilot had already attracted strong interest from restaurants.
What this means for your restaurant
- If your Swiggy menu still relies on old or phone-camera photos, check the Owner app to see whether the subsidised photoshoot programme is open to you and what it costs.
- Treat the five-times figure as Swiggy's own claim. If you reshoot, compare orders for those dishes before and after so you can see the effect on your menu.
- A subsidised audit by an FSSAI-accredited agency gives you structured feedback on sanitation and upkeep; use the account manager to work through the findings.
- If you have no regular equipment suppliers, compare the prices offered through the Owner app with what you currently pay.
