How to get more orders on Zomato and Swiggy
When Zomato or Swiggy orders are flat or falling, the cause is usually one of a handful of things: weak search visibility, photos or a menu that don't turn views into orders, prices that stop working once commission is taken, a rating problem, or gaps in availability. Find out which one from your own dashboard before reaching for discounts.

| What you're seeing | What to check |
|---|---|
| Orders have been low from the start, not just lately | How visible you are for your cuisine and area, how the menu is laid out and photographed, and how your prices compare once commission comes off. This is usually a listing and menu issue rather than a marketing one. |
| Orders dropped suddenly, within a few days | Outlet hours and item availability, any recent change in rating, a rise in cancellations or rejected orders, slower delivery times, and whether a competitor nearby has launched a strong offer. |
| Plenty of people open the listing but few order | Your photos, dish descriptions and prices against similar restaurants nearby. Here the listing is failing to convert, which is what a menu audit and a photoshoot are meant to fix. |
| Your rating has slipped under 4 | Start with packaging, order accuracy and delivery speed, because ratings tend to follow the real order experience rather than marketing. Answer complaints on the platform itself. AETR won't buy reviews, since that breaks platform policy. |
| Order numbers look fine but the money doesn't add up | Go through the settlement report against the orders you recorded: GST, commission, platform fees, plus anything deducted for ads or discounts. A payout audit reconciles each line. |
| You pay for ads but can't tell whether they pay back | Work out what each ad-driven order actually leaves you after commission and discount, rather than counting impressions or clicks. A marketing audit ranks your campaigns on that figure. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my restaurant getting so few orders on Zomato or Swiggy?
Most often it comes down to one of these: the listing doesn't show up well when people search for your cuisine in your area, the menu or photos fail to turn browsers into buyers, prices stop working after commission, there are gaps in availability, or the rating is dragging you down. The platforms keep their ranking rules private, so check your own dashboard numbers to see which applies.
My Zomato or Swiggy orders dropped suddenly. What should I check?
Look at outlet hours and item availability first. Then check for a recent change in rating, more cancellations or rejected orders, slower delivery times, and whether a restaurant nearby has started a strong offer. When orders fall over a few days, the reason is usually something operational rather than customers suddenly wanting less of your food.
How do I get my Zomato or Swiggy rating back above 4?
Fix what customers actually experience first: packaging, getting orders right and delivering on time. Ratings mostly reflect that experience, so marketing won't repair them on its own. Reply to complaints through the platform so customers see a response. AETR does not buy reviews or arrange them for anyone, and we'd advise you not to either, because it goes against platform policy.
Is there a way to get more orders without weekly discounts?
Yes. Menu engineering, better photos, sorting out hours and availability, and recovering a weak rating tend to lift orders in a way that lasts longer than a standing weekly discount. Offers still have a place: once those basics are fixed, a targeted offer that runs for a set period can add to them.
Are Zomato and Swiggy ads worth paying for?
Judge them by what an ad-driven order leaves you once commission and any discount you co-fund are taken out, not by impressions or clicks. Advertising mostly boosts a listing that customers already order from readily, and does less for one that struggles to convert. A marketing audit shows which of those describes your outlet before you put more money in.
Should I book an audit or try fixing things myself first?
If your dashboard already shows the cause, such as wrong opening hours or a rating that dipped after one bad week, fix it yourself. An audit earns its keep when orders have stayed weak for some time and nothing obvious explains it. The marketplace audit is designed to find that cause from your data instead of leaving you to guess.
Once the problem is found, can AETR run the account for us?
Yes. Beyond audits, AETR offers hands-on account management for Zomato, Swiggy, Magicpin and Thrive. Our account managers run your merchant accounts, and we also handle promo management aimed at the right customers, ad management and sponsored listings, and ongoing performance analysis. The details of each are on our services page, and we can talk through what fits your outlets.
