Restaurant business diagnostic: a starting point when you're not sure what's wrong

A restaurant business diagnostic is a wide review for owners who know something has to change but not where to begin. Over 1–2 weeks, AETR looks at revenue, marketing, operations and the customer experience, interviews the people running the business and reviews whatever data you have. You finish with a roadmap that puts your priorities in order.

Who It's For

Is this the right service for you?

Owners who can see that something has to change but can't tell whether the cause is marketing, day-to-day operations, the menu, or a mix of all three.

Not the right fit: If you can already name the problem area, a specific audit will be more focused, and if it comes down to one decision, a consulting session is enough.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Something feels off but I can't say what. Where do I begin?

This is the situation the business diagnostic is built for. Many owners can feel that sales, margins or reviews are not where they should be, but cannot say whether the root cause is marketing, operations, the menu or several of these together. The diagnostic looks across all of them first, and only then tells you where to focus, so you are not paying to fix the wrong thing.

What does a restaurant business diagnostic cover?

Four areas: revenue, marketing, operations and the experience your customers have. We interview the people who run the business, because a lot of what goes wrong never shows up in a spreadsheet, and we review whatever data you have from the sources available to you. The two together let us see how the areas affect one another rather than judging each in isolation.

How is this different from a growth audit?

The growth audit is the more focused of the two. It takes 5–7 business days, counted from data access, and works mainly from your marketplace dashboards, POS exports and P&L, finishing with a ranked list of fixes that you go through with us on a 60-minute call. The business diagnostic takes 1–2 weeks, adds interviews with the people running the business, and covers revenue, marketing, operations and customer experience. Choose the diagnostic when you are not yet sure which specific audit you need.

How long does the diagnostic take?

1–2 weeks from start to finish. That period covers both the interviews and the data review, and the diagnostic ends when you have the roadmap in hand. If what you need is a quicker answer to one specific question, a single consulting session, scheduled within a few business days, is the better route.

How much does a business diagnostic cost?

There is no fixed published price. Each diagnostic is priced for the engagement in front of us, and the figure is confirmed on a scoping call once we understand what needs to be covered. If you suspect a specific audit or a single consulting session would suit you better, that same call is a good moment to raise it.

What will I have at the end of it?

A prioritised roadmap. It sets out which area of the business to work on first, and what should follow, based on what came out of the interviews and the data review. The point is to give you a clear order of work instead of a long list of problems, so your time and budget go where they will make the most difference.

Do you guarantee that the business will improve?

No. The diagnostic tells you where to focus and in what order, but results depend on your market, your team and how the changes are carried out. We would rather tell you honestly what the data and interviews show than promise an outcome nobody can control. Whether you act on the roadmap yourself or with our help is your call.
